A warm welcome from the Eastern Middle School PTA community for the 2023-2024 EMS school year!  

 

Events like Back to School BBQ, Grade Level coffees, Open Houses, Parent Socials, and more offer the perfect chance to connect and build new relationships throughout the year with you.

 

EMS PTA’s Back to School Family BBQ, had to be postpone due to inclement weather. We will be updating with a new date soon!

We hope you will join us.

 

Summer has been busy at EMS with renovations and preparations for a new year. We are fortunate to welcome Principal Guarino, who has worked closely with Principal Goldstein transitioning this summer, allowing EMS to start a new strong chapter, as you have already seen from Principal Guarino’s messages.

Join the Parent Teacher Association. Parent volunteers work with the school’s teachers and administration in various committees to enrich the learning experience and help the school function. In the past, EMSPTA has raised money to supply the Smartboards, computers, special speakers, and even air conditioning for the classrooms! Every dollar you donate helps your student. Each time you volunteer, it adds value to every student’s experience at school. Receive a Parent directory with a minimum donation! Join us today!

Sign your child up for 6th Grade Social Dance!

The Social Dance is a time-honored EMS tradition that provides 6th graders an opportunity to learn traditional ballroom dancing while having a great time socializing with their peers. This 6-class program will be taught by Arthur Murry Dance School and will provide students with a fresh, new approach to dance. For more information, please visit the webpage.

 

 

 

Come to the Open House. Grade 6- Sept 27 & Grade 7 & 8 -Sept 13th. This is one of the only opportunities to meet your child's teachers and experience a mini version of his/her day, attending classes and quickly switching classrooms. Parking is difficult, so get there early to allow time to find a spot and be on time. Parking is also available at the nearby Riverside School. More information will be sent by the school closer to the date. 

 

Grade Level Welcome Coffees - Grade 8- Sept 27th, Grade 7- Sept 28th, Grade 6- Sept 29th.

9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The grade-level coffees are informal interactions to learn more about the curriculum, PTA events, the numerous enrichment programs for our kids, opportunities to ask questions, and more. During these sessions, you'll get to meet our new Principal, Marc Guarino, your grade-specific administrators, and counselors. Additionally, we'll offer a sneak peek into the enriching programs and other activities facilitated by the PTA for the benefit of your children.

Gator Wear - Students will be asked to wear Gator Gear throughout the year to show school spirit. Get yours today from EMS PTA Spirit Wear Store.

 

 

 

 

 

Calendar – Don't forget to check the calendar on EMSPTA.org for upcoming events and programs, including Grade Level Coffees, Open House Nights, and upcoming PTA Meetings. You can sync the calendar to your personal one as well. 

 

 

 

 

 

Arrival and Dismissal info -Detailed information has been sent via email by Marc Guarino, EMS Principal.

Each grade level has an identified exterior door for entrance and exit. Photos of the Grade Level Entrances. The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. for 6th graders, 8:05 a.m. for 7th graders, and 8:10 a.m. for 8th graders. The parent drop off and pick up process will be the same as last year. Please do adhere to the traffic rules for the safety of our children.

 

 

Lunchtime - Lunch is short, so many children choose to bring their own lunch. This is especially helpful for the social child who talks a lot, forgets to eat, or is a slow eater.

School lunches are available through the cafeteria. Students can also bring money to buy lunch, or you can set up a lunch account. You will need your child's student ID# to register. Please visit the Food Services page to set up a lunch account and for more information on menus, prices, etc.

Clubs are special after-school activities. The debate club, Young Financiers Club, there is also a Newcomers Club to welcome new students to the EMS community. Visit the Clubs Page to get more information.

Intramurals are drop-in organized sports after school. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in a supervised activity while "hanging out" with friends and classmates. Clubs and Intramurals end in time for your child to take the late bus home. Visit the Intramural Sports page for more information. Please note that there are no after-school activities on Wednesdays and late bus transportation is only available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. More information will be provided by the school.

 

 

Competitive team sports -The EMS Fall Competitive Sports Season 2023 registration process has now begun. Please visit the Athletics Page for more information.

 If your child is interested, please ensure you have turned in a Competitive Sports Participation Form! The practices/ games will extend later than the late bus, so pick-up would need to be arranged. 

 

 

 

Bus Passes & Bus RoutesFree transportation is provided to and from school for students living beyond the established student walking distances. Check the EMS Bus Routes to find your bus number and stop.  Call the school office if you have any questions.  Please visit the GPS Transportation page for more information including the late bus schedule and lost and found.
