Dear EMS Families,

Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! We hope you all had a wonderful summer filled with rest, relaxation, and memorable moments with family and friends. As we enter this fresh academic year, we want to extend a heartfelt welcome to all of our returning families and a special greeting to those joining our school community for the first time. We are thrilled to have you with us!

We have an exciting lineup of events, programs, and initiatives planned for this year, designed to bring us together as a community and enhance our children's educational experience. From fun family events to important fundraising efforts and volunteer opportunities, there are many ways for you to get involved and make a difference.

Together, we can continue to build a strong, inclusive, and supportive school community.

We hope the information below will help prepare for the start of school. Please reach out to us at president@emspta.org if you have any questions.

Join the Parent Teacher Association. Parent volunteers work with the school’s teachers and administration in various committees to enrich the learning experience and help the school function. In the past, EMSPTA has raised money to supply Smartboards, computers, special speakers, and even air conditioning for the classrooms! Every dollar you donate helps your student. Each time you volunteer, it adds value to every student’s experience at school. Receive a Parent directory with a minimum donation! Join us today!

Get Involved. Our community relies on YOUR generosity!

Whatever your skills or time commitment, whether in person or from home, we have many ways for you to contribute and make a positive impact.

Our goal is to connect as many engaged people as possible to the school in whatever ways they are willing to participate. Please visit our webpage to learn more about various roles and how to sign up.

Sign your child up for 6th Grade Social Dance!

The Social Dance is a time-honored EMS tradition that provides 6th graders an opportunity to learn traditional ballroom dancing while having a great time socializing with their peers. Arthur Murry Dance School will teach this 5-class program and provide students with a fresh, new approach to dance. For more information, please visit the webpage.

Parking is difficult, so get there early to allow time to find a spot and be on time. Parking is also available at the nearby Riverside School. The school will send more information closer to the date.

Arrival and Dismissal info -Marc Guarino, EMS Principal, will email detailed information. The school start and end times will be the same for ALL students. Start time will be 8:00 a.m. and end time will be 2:45 p.m. Please do adhere to the traffic rules for the safety of our children.

Lunchtime - Many children choose to bring their own lunch. This is especially helpful for the social child who talks a lot, forgets to eat, or is a slow eater.

School lunches are available through the cafeteria. Students can also bring money to buy lunch, or you can set up a lunch account. You will need your child's student ID# to register. Please visit the Food Services page to set up a lunch account and for more information on menus, prices, etc.

Intramurals are drop-in organized sports after school. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in a supervised activity while "hanging out" with friends and classmates. Clubs and Intramurals end in time for your child to take the late bus home. Visit the Intramural Sports page for more information. Please note that there are no after-school activities on Wednesdays and late bus transportation is only available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. More information will be provided by the school.

Competitive team sports -The EMS Fall Competitive Sports Season 2023 registration process has now begun. Please visit the Athletics Page for more information.

If your child is interested, please ensure you have turned in a Competitive Sports Participation Form! The practices/ games will extend later than the late bus, so pick-up would need to be arranged.
